ABOUT THOSE TWO GOBLINS FROM NEW YORK...

Two Goblins from New York

Freddy and John on their way to one of their favorite events of the spooky season, Halloween Horror Nights.

ABOUT FREDDY SEGARRA

Freddy Segarra was born and raised in Westchester, New York. He's been haunted - in the best way - by the horror genre since childhood. (Also haunted in real life but that's another story!) From the magic of Halloween to the thrills of the latest horror movies,  the genre has always been his playground.

Before he ever thought of co-writing a book along side John, his spouse of a thousand years, he dreamed of singing.  He even chased that dream for a time, with John by his side - writing lyrics and programming instrumentals for a music demo that, like many creative pursuits, was paused by life's unpredictable twists and turns.

But despite all, he and John continued to inspire each other, and after lots of starts and stops, and after years of detours and delays, they have returned to working on projects together as they had done in the past. From creating music, to creating websites for singers, to working on story ideas, Freddy and John have always loved the process of co-creativity. That creativity has spawned into a return to something they've long wanted to share, co-writing horror stories and developing a brand (SegarraScreams) to showcase their twisted tales.

Freddy lives for the scream (in a good way) and he is endlessly passionate about music, animals, laughter, Disney magic, Halloween and all things spooky. Along with John, he is obsessed with Halloween Horror Nights! Whether it's celebrating the spooky season at haunt events or creating terrifying narratives, Freddy is here to share his love of horror with the world - one scream at a time.

Born and raised in New York, John has always been obsessed with horror since childhood. He spent many teenage years indulging in the terror of the latest horror flicks and creating treatments for sequels to a hit horror franchise as a hobby.  Teenage John submitted this "treatment" to Fangoria, his favorite magazine, only to get it returned with a kind letter from the editor stating that they could not help him get his script treatment to a studio. (What was he thinking?) But naive John was happy to hear they passed his "handwritten" treatment around the Fangoria offices for everyone to read.  Soon after, he typed a letter to the studio but never heard anything back.

As a kid, John was also obsessed by the likes of special horror effects makeup and would create bloody slashes on his neck and face using toilet paper and ketchup to frighten his parents. Ah, the good ole days.  John's  immense love and admiration  for the horror genre led John to his dream of one day becoming a filmmaker.  That dream led him to attend the New York Film Academy in NYC, where he created four short films and where it deepened his love for storytelling through film.

Creating artwork has always been John's peaceful sanctuary where he could escape into his own world through his painting and drawing. His creative nature always led him into other expressions of creativity, such as writing song lyrics and creating pop/dance music instrumentals for a demo for Freddy.  Over the years, he also dabbled in web design for two dance music artists and designed the cover art for one of their singles. He also created promo videos and artwork to market the song.

With Freddy's encouragement, John started writing screenplays, books, short stories, and created a short lived horror blog called "Fears and Frights" all under his former pen name of John Fears. He chased creativity wherever it led him - even when life kept pulling him in other directions. Now, he and Freddy are co-writing various horror projects, including their upcoming book of horror poetry and art, "Room 113 at the Segarra Motel". Together, they have launched SegarraScreams, a horror brand that will house all their twisted creations - from books to future ventures, all drenched in the genre they love... Horror.

Speaking of horror, John, like Freddy, is totally obsessed with Halloween Horror Nights, but he is also enchanted by Disney and theme parks.  He loves music, animals, slapstick, making people laugh... and the occasional scream. His favorite color is red.
